President's Park, in nearby York County, is a tourist attraction that features giant busts of all the U.S. presidents. Soon, President Barack Obama's statue will join them.
Everette H. Newman III, president of Presidents Park, says the cost of the concrete-and-steel sculpture is estimated to cost approximately $60,000. It will be 16 feet to 18 feet tall and weigh about 7,400 pounds. Newman says he had hoped to have the bust in place before Tuesday's inauguration. But the sculptor, David Adickes of Houston, didn't like the original bust he designed for Obama. The enormous sculptures normally take many months to finish but he is being driven by the immense interest in our new president. Also, a life-size bust will go on display in a couple of weeks and remain until the larger one arrives. Source: Associated Press
