Peninsula Town Center Comes to Life with Opening of New Stores and Announcements of More Major Tenants to Come

At 10:00 a.m., the clock struck zero, and more than 50 stores opened, heralding the official grand opening of the 1.1-million square foot Peninsula Town Center, the largest economic development project in the history of the city of Hampton and a major new employer and shopping/office/residential destination for the Hampton Roads region.

Over the next several weeks and months, more than 20 additional stores and restaurants, many new to the state or region, will open at the Peninsula Town Center.

Other new retailers announced at the Grand Opening, which were not part of a January 19th announcement, include: Beach Treats, Bead Haven, California Sun, Cell Fashions, CREAM, Fashion Shawls and More, Gold Designs, Green Gates Gifts, Italian Milano, McDonald Garden Market, Nature's Beauty, Olive Ole, Snack Shack, The Cuddly Hippo and Wink.

FIRST STATEWIDE ARTS CELEBRATION, MARCH 1 - JUNE 30, 2010

The MINDS WIDE OPEN: Virginia Celebrates Women in the Arts initiative launches March 1, as the first statewide celebration of its kind. Hundreds of Virginia arts and cultural organizations and artists have collaborated to present the inaugural theme which honors the contributions by women to arts andculture. A public calendar at www.ArtsVA.com includes thousands of special events and programs offered between March and June, including plays, choreography, compositions, and exhibitions of paintings, photography or films that have been created by women or feature women as the primary focus. MINDS WIDE OPEN: Virginia Celebrates Women in the Arts is the first of what the cultural community hopes will be an ongoing series of statewide collaborations shedding light on the arts in Virginia.

After more than three years of planning, the Virginia Air & Space Center has opened the first phase of its new hands-on space gallery. For thousands of years the planets have been a source of intrigue and mystery for mankind. Even today man’s need to explore is inspired by these heavenly bodies.

Recognized as one of the Army's leading musical ensembles, The United States Army Training and Doctrine Command Band presents a concert entitled: Heroes & Homecomings. This heroic program will incorporate a full complement of brass, winds and percussion in an evening filled with great entertainment that honors and celebrates our service members, veterans, and military families.
