A Great Holiday Recipe from Buz and Ned's Real Barbecue

Posted by robertvining@gmail.com in Richmond , Restaurant , Reader's Review , Dining , Cool News , Cooking Tip

If you're like me you'll probably be entertaining out of town guests for the holidays. It's always nice to have family in town but sometimes there is a lot of pressure on what you'll be cooking for dinner. My parents don't eat red meat much anymore so I thought they'd like a great chicken recipe I acquired this summer, something that will really 'WOW' them. This is a recipe from Buzz, the proprietor and barbecue master well known from his restaurant on the Boulevard, Buz and Ned's Real Barbecue in Richmond. I've made this a few times and all I have to say is - it's awesome. Try it out and be prepared to impress your friends and family.

Celebrate National Chocolate Day in Williamsburg with Mary's Chocolate Camps

Posted by taylor in Williamsburg , Holiday Events , Cooking Tip , Chocolate Lady

love-chocolateAppropriately scheduled right before Halloween is one of my most favorite days, National Chocolate Day! I do believe there really is a special day for everyone. National Chocolate Day isn't a day just for chocolate lovers but a day for everyone to indulge and enjoy chocolate. So, mark your calendars - National Chocolate Day is October 28th.

How Do You Like Your Chocolate?

There are so many varieties and variations of chocolate. Creamy milk chocolate, dark chocolate, chocolate with a touch of caramel, peanut butter or nuts, fruits dipped in chocolates, chocolate cakes and pies, chocolate mousse. I could go on and on. What will be yours be?

I'm not advocating sitting on your couch all day eating pieces of chocolate...just to enjoy and celebrate a tasty, soul satisfying chocolate. There is a reason why the stuff releases endorphins and makes you happy....it can be euphoric.

Celebrate National S'mores Day

Posted by admin in Williamsburg , Virginia Beach , Richmond , Cool News , Cooking Tip

smoresAugust 10th has to be the best day in America: S'mores day. I've always wondered what brilliant individual came up with the ingenious combination of graham, chocolate, and marshmallow, toasted. S'mores have always been such a summer treat. I think they taste best while camping; after a long day of hiking and sightseeing, relaxing over the campfire, eating marshmallows for dinner is perfect.

Some people desire their marshmallows only a little warm, while others like to eat them on fire. I, however, am a traditional marshmallow toaster/eater. I put my marshmallow on a stick (the kind from nature, not any fancy metal skewer - I find that the taste of a little bark enhances the flavor) and put it way down into the heat of the coals, turning slowly. A nicely browned toasted marshmallow goes straight into the pre-prepared layers of graham cracker and half-a-bar of Hershey's milk chocolate. Tip: use the edges of both graham crackers to scrape the marshmallow off of the stick, and you won't get burned, sticky hands. Then, I eat this delectable treat, making sure that my face is sufficiently sticky by the time I am ready for my second.

August 10th is a very important national holiday. Even if you can't make it to the campground, fire up the grill out back and make some modern day style s'mores. Don't be afraid to be innovative!
